My concern is basically the one Lyramion pointed out, that this might just fragment the playerbase even more. I don't see how giving it its own chat channel is functionally any different from just adding the yell channel to every area (I'd argue its worse in fact). Each Unity has rewards sure, but why is that being tied to whatever community improvement thing they're trying to accomplish?
I'm not sure if I'm reading it right but did it say that people of different unities couldn't complete the same objective? I know it said there were some specific to that unity but it said the wanted part was a separate section so sounds kinda like everyone can
I don't see how that'll happen? Nothing really implies you need to be in the same Unity except the exclusive Unity objectives. Wanted battles sound like a voidwatch system, but instead of voidstones which regen with time you use Accolades which you earn by doing other shit, and your rewards scale with Unity ranking.
One question still stands though. What does this have to do with the mentioned alternative to the equipping of multiple linkshell which they wanted to give us but then found too hard to deliver?
This is mainly why I'm surprised this is going to be game content, I was expecting it to be a "communication utility" to take the place of the double linkshell thing, while it's pretty clear they have long term plans for this. Hope it won't turn out to be another Voidwatch era.
Dunno about you folks but despite me kinda enjoying VW I guess, I didn't really like how they kept the game going, after the Abby era was over, with nothing but stand alone, re hashed, lowbudget content that really felt out of place.
At least SoA content had a certain feeling of grandeur. Through highs and lows it all felt part of a big plan, not something done to buy time as they decide what to do of the game, which is exactly how vw felt to me
I'm just trying to understand the logic of them trying to improve the issues with findings parties/socializing in the game by introducing a system that has some soft PvP built into it like this, unless their goal with the reward scaling thing is for everyone to eventually be in the same Unity anyway, otherwise this just seems like it would at best have no effect and at worst actually make it harder, because you're trying to draw from an even smaller playerbase than just /yelling.
Plus I think the only way this would improve the situation is if the stuff from this system is the best gear available so everyone is incentivized to do just this event and nothing else. If their vision was instead "people would do this event and make friends through it", how is that any different than meeting friends through shouting for a Skirmish party or something?
I think it'd depend mostly on how big a deal swapping between them is. From the description, it could be as relatively trivial as picking which Assault counter or Wildskeeper Reive to go to, with the 24-hour wait serving as a gating mechanism.
Main thing that confuses me in that regard though, is why they'd scale item strength according to Unity ranking. That's something that really would serve to consolidate the playerbase into one or two at a time, if it's powerful enough. Otherwise, a lower-ranked Unity might benefit from lower congestion or (speculation) lower participation costs.
Just making it an event based bonus seems possible then, with maybe the higher ranked Unities getting harder objectives, and the gear scaling up to help with that.
things might get interesting if each Unity has a distinct bonus.. kinda like free company actions? if it were randomized in a certain way i could see people preferring to head to whichever Unity benefits them.. and the variation would be big enough.
Wanted sounds interesting. i hope they're not existing NMs..? cos those would die so fast lol
This just reads like an added segregation within the community, as someone mentioned. Weekly conquest-tally-like ranking system?
As it reads now, rewards are "increased in strength", based on ranking etc........ Bet you their infamous augment system will be tied to this
I gotta be blown away with this to have me interested or to even care about a specific unity.
Hm this looks dumb and like something I won't do but I'll see how it progresses.
I'm betting that there will be no functional difference on the unity specific RoEs and so in the long run it wont matter what specific one you are on just that you are on one with a decent ranking and even then it just effects the strength of items from the wanted section... which might just mean the strength of the augments and you can augment them anyways with accolade points. Also wonder if by rankings they mean the points not the order...

The update is coming on 11/10. Apparently there's closed off areas in Sih, Moh, Doh, Woh Gates and Cirdas Caverns they're going to open up, and they're going to add NMs to many different areas in Adoulin.
Unity will have eminence objectives, and apparently Wanted is going to have its own NMs instead of just using existing ones like some people thought.
They're also going to adjust the WS on some Trusts, but I doubt that'll make it so that people will want to use them.
That went from interesting to anime in 3s flat.
Finally creating freespawn NM's in adoulin?
I like the art of the characters in regular artifact armor at the end. I always truly loved the art and gear in FFXI. One of the best in the FF series IMO.
I agree. Adoulin had some of the best music ever.
If it weren't for Keepers of the Wild, I definitely wouldn't have been able to appreciate the 12 hour WKR battles against Yumcax. It made things epic.
I am glad Mizuta is still here with other FF projects too. Epic music.
I definitely love his music. Seeing how things went from the early days of FFXI to now in Seekers of Adoulin and FFXIII-2 too. Yep, tears in my eyes too, guys.
whats that where theyre summoning monsters at the end?
I think they're just new trusts from Babban Ny Mheillea, it's part of the event they're doing for 11/11.
Nice to see roaming NMs, but I know they will be bot capped 24/7 if anything worthwhile comes from them lol.
